An afternoon with the Birmingham Royal Ballet
It is not every day that you have the opportunity to be taught dance from a professional ballerina, but Xpress-Yourself Keep Dancing Moseley class at St Agnes Church Hall were joined by two ballerinas from the Birmingham Royal Ballet. The dancers, Rosanna Ely and Lynsey Sutherland taught our dancers BRB Repertoire from La La Fille Mal Gardee.
One of the dances taught from La Fille Mal Gardee was the chicken dance which was great fun to learn as you can watch on the video below.
‘I couldn't do it they are amazing so nibble and light it was AMAZING’
Both dancers were very friendly and approachable and happy to answer questions about the life of a ballerina and even shared a few backstage secrets.
'The dancers in costume showed us ballet steps which we had fun trying to copy. Afterwards the dancers answered our many questions. We all thoroughly enjoyed the workshop.'
Dancers also had a few photographs taken with the ballerinas,in costume definitely photos for the album.
‘Amazing time - we felt very honoured to spend time with the lovely dancers’
It was truly a privilege to have had such an opportunity. Faye O’Connor company owner and teacher of Keep Dancing Moseley said that
‘It was delight to watch the faces of all of the dancers who participated and they clearly relished the privilege of dancing with Birmingham Royal Ballet dancers. The ballerinas were delightful, so friendly and approachable and really ensured that they made the experience memorable for our dancers.’
Following the Birmingham Royal Ballet visit dancers were full of praise for the workshop and were excited to share their experience of being taught by professional ballerinas.
