It was heart-warming to watch this group of people come alive in their seats as they danced, swayed and sang their hearts out. It showed me that the work Xpress-Yourself delivers is way more important than just getting people dancing, for many of the residents this was an escape for an hour

As a nurse I have introduced Faye to a number of nursing homes who have taken on her services to assist the residents with dance and movement. The feedback from the residents and managers alike is brilliant. Faye runs a fabulous session which engages all the residents, irrespective of their current mental state, residents sing along, smile and move to the music. I have no hesitation in recommending Faye and personally feel that all nursing and residential homes should provide this type of engaging activity as standard...

The workshop was very good and enjoyable and everyone joined in!

The residents enjoy the dancing, mirroring and the reminisce as well as learning simple dance like catch a falling star. It is great to work with someone who adapts their delivery to suit the needs of the individuals. Faye is working with us long term.

My name is Rita Graham and I am the Activity Coordinator for West Eaton Nursing Home, we work with people who have dementia.

I have had the pleasure of working with the Herefordshire Creating Ageing over the past 3 years, enjoying the projects they run throughout the year, our current project is:-

DANCE MAGIC DANCE

What is this???

By the power of Music, Dance and expressive action Faye brings to life

  • Memories

  • Movement

  • Toe tapping

  • Hand clapping

  • Colours

  • Textures

  • Involvement

  • Togetherness

  • Laughter

  • Reminiscing

  • Enjoyment

  • Recognition

Faye’s energy for each session oozes with love and laughter, through the dance and mirroring actions, we have found residents have joined in the activity that don’t normally partake, they enjoy watching as a rule but with Faye this is not the case.  The benefits are immense and the feeling of well-being after the sessions leaves a lovely sense of achievement and involvement for our residents.

Faye and I review each session , discussing each resident and their involvement, noting the benefits to each resident that took part; and plan for the following week.

I will be sorry for the project to end, hopefully our paths will cross again.  Thank you Faye.

I was most satisfied with the overall process of A Jig and a Caper session from the booking process, to the workshop design and content and, Faye as the facilitator. It was a great experience for the residents and very good for their creative expressive needs.
